Our outdoor playground opened to visitors of the Oklahoma Aquarium on July 4, 2019. The structures were built for two age groups: two to five-year-old children and five to 12-year-old children. The playground includes slides, bridges, vertical climbers, and horizontal climbers. The play area showcases bright, coral reef colors as well as 3D renderings, audio sensory devices, and a pour-in-place safety surface for kids.
The location of the playground is east of the aquarium’s outdoor café patio and is open year-round.
Funding for the $519,208.66 project was appropriated from the Jenks Aquarium Authority (JAA) operating fund.
Cunningham Recreation, based in Fort Payne, Alabama, was awarded the contract and began construction of the aquatic and reef-themed playground in March 2019.
