With 8 exhibit galleries, the Oklahoma Aquarium features thousands of salt and fresh water fish and animals. In addition to our live exhibits, the Aquarium is also home to the Great Hall, available for after-hours events, the Karl and Beverly White Fishing Tackle Museum, the QuikTrip Education Wetlabs and Classrooms, the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation regional headquarters, and the Zebco Casting Pond.
Exploring the Aquarium begins with Biodiversity sponsored by the Anne and Henry Zarrow Foundation. Sponges, barnacles, sea stars and urchins. These are just some of the distinctly different animals found in Biodiversity highlighting just how varied aquatic life can be.
Adaptation
Fish that breathe air? Or can see both above and below the water? These are just a couple of unusual characteristics found in Adaptation, a collection of true survivors. Whether it’s through camouflage or rainbow bright colors, this gallery shows how fish literally change or adapt to increase their chances for survival.
Is it a rock... or a fish?
Fishes of Oklahoma
Some of the most awe inspiring creatures are swimming in Fishes of Oklahoma , supported by the Oxley Foundation and ONEOK. See a more than 120-year-old alligator snapping turtle, a state record blue catfish, and 7-foot long gars. You will never look at Oklahoma lakes and rivers the same way again, after learning what’s swimming with you!
Paddle Fish
Hayes Family Ozark Stream
This new addition to the Oklahoma Aquarium transports you to the banks of a Northeastern Oklahoma stream with our first mammals, river otters, beavers and raccoons plus sunfish, smallmouth bass and many other fish found in this native Oklahoma habitat.
Oceans Room & Coral Reef
Entering the Oceans Room is literally walking into a whirlwind tour of the world’s waters. Rocky coasts, kelp forests and marsh habitats are found in the Oceans Room along with the popular stingray feed and touch tanks. Feel the difference between the slippery, smooth skin of a stingray compared to the rough, sandpapery back of a small shark. Also found in the Oceans Room, the Coral Reef, a dramatic collection of Caribbean fish including the colorful parrot fish, porcupine puffers, eels and many more.
