November 2014 

Fall Fish Tales – Ongoing - We asked kids to share their most imaginative Fish Tales and we're having so much fun, we’re extending the chance to receive half-price child admission with Festive Fish Tales for the holiday season.  Download the forms, then write or color about a close encounter of the fishy kind and bring it to enjoy a discount on a fun family outing.       

26 – Turkey Time – 10:00 to 1:00 – Come out and create your own turkey, turkey fish that is! Did you know that lionfish are also called turkey fish?

28 – Feeling Full? Little ones, come bounce with us! – 10:00 to 2:00 – Before visiting our fish, come join us in the Great Hall for bouncy house fun!

28 – 30 – Scuba Diving Santa Claus – 3:30 - Even Santa likes to go for a swim in the tropics, and the Coral Reef is as close as you get in Oklahoma to diving in the Caribbean.  Watch Santa find out who’s naughty or nice among the fish in the 60,000 gallon saltwater tank, then get your camera ready to have your child pose for the most unique Santa picture ever, without getting wet!

29 – 30 – Weekend Wavemakers – 11:00 to 12:00 – Meet the Animals of Education! Not all our animals swim. Join us to meet the critters that help us educate school groups!

December 2014

2 – Schedule Change!  The Aquarium will close at 6:00 instead of the usual 9:00 on Tuesdays for a private event.  

3 - Aqua-Tots – 11:00 – Bring your little ones out for a special Seaside Story Time. Join our educators for an interactive experience!  Visit the Oklahoma Aquarium Coral Reef Café for lunch and order a Treasure Box. $5 for a drink, PB&J or hot dog and chips. Aqua-Tots is for ages 1-5. There is a maximum of 35 children, first come, first served. Program is free with paid admission or membership entry. Today’s Adventure – A Whale of a Tail!

6 – 7 – Weekend Wavemakers – 10:00 to 12:00 – Arctic Zone! Brrrrrr…come learn about the animals that call the freezing arctic home! You can also try your hand at the ancient art of scrimshaw while supplies last.

10 – Homeschool Day – All Day - The Oklahoma Aquarium features quarterly Homeschool Days. These are days when homeschool students and teachers can enter at a discounted rate. There will also be information and activities in the Great Hall from 10:00 – 12:00 AM. Click here for more information about our Homeschool Days. 

13 – 14 – Weekend Wavemakers – 10:00 to 12:00 – Come get Shell Shocked! Do you like to look for shells at the beach? Well, you can come and learn what animals call these shells home. Be a beach explorer and dig for your own shells and try to identify them!

19 – Holiday Fish Bubbles – 10:00 to 1:00Still looking for a great gift for Mom and Dad? Come design your own fish bubble ornament!

20 – Behind-the-Scenes Tours – 10:30, 1:30  – Construction on the Sea Turtle Experience is underway, and the two sea turtles who will call the exhibit home are getting excited to meet everyone!  You can get an early introduction to these magnificent creatures by participating on a Behind-the-Scenes Tour.  You’ll not only tour our holding facility and see the turtles, you’ll also get to journey above the Siegfried Families Shark Adventure to see the half-million gallon tank from a marine biologist’s perspective. 

  • Adults – $10, Youth – $8 plus general admission or membership. For safety reasons, tour not recommended for children under 5 years old.
  • Behind-the-scenes tours will be sold at the main admission gate on a first come basis, and limited to 25 people per tour.  No advance reservations can be accepted.
  • The tour includes a fair amount of walking and climbing stairs, so we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs or strollers in the working areas.
  • Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver.
  • Sturdy, closed toe shoes are recommended for both your safety and comfort.     

22 and 29 – Behind-The-Scenes Shark Feed Tour - 1:15 - Join our education staff for a Shark Feed Tour! This premier tour allows you to walk to the top of the shark exhibit and watch as biologists feed our 15 bull sharks and 4 nurse sharks. You can't get any closer without getting in the water!

  • Adults – $12, Youth – $10 plus general admission or membership.
  • For safety reasons, tour not recommended for children under 5 years old.
  • Behind-the-scenes tours will be sold at the main admission gate on a first come basis, and limited to 15 people per tour.  No advance reservations can be accepted
  • Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver.
  • The tour includes a fair amount of walking and climbing stairs, so we are unable to accommodate wheelchairs or strollers in the working areas.
  • Sturdy, closed toe shoes are recommended for both your safety and comfort.

22 and 29 – Everything Sharks – 12:30 to 1:30 – Meet in the Shark View Room before the feed to learn all about the exciting world of sharks!

31 – New Year's Eve Splash! – 11:00 to 2:00  – Come splash into the New Year with fun and games and a “Noon-Time Countdown”. Bring your party fins and get ready to dive into the fun!

January 2015   

2 – Seaside Screening – 11:00 – Did you know the Cox Communications Shark View Room doubles as a movie theater?  Enjoy the last day of winter break, bring a blanket to sit on and enjoy a kid-friendly film and popcorn. *Limited to 50 people, first come-first view.  Free with admission or membership entry.

18 – Earth Day / Scout Day  – Activities from 11:00 to 1:00 - The Oklahoma Aquarium hosts Scout Days to honor all youth organizations and their members (such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, 4-H, FFA, etc.). There are special activities offered from 11:00 to 1:00 pm, but the discounted rate is available for the entire day (remember the last ticket is sold 1 hour prior to closing.)

  • $7 per student (age 3 and over) and or; $10 per adult (cost includes full Aquarium admission)
  • To receive discounted prices, youth organization members must be in uniform or carrying organization membership cards.
  • Adults must accompany a youth organization member, maximum of one adult per child admitted at discounted price.
  • Junior Marine Biologist badges may be earned by fulfilling requirements outlined at the Aquarium that day and patches may be purchased for $3.

Scout Day Theme: Think Blue To Go Green, what better way to celebrate Earth Day than to learn about conserving what covers more than 70% of the earth’s surface – water!
